Director R&D (m/f/d) Metronix - DE - Braunschweig

Summary

At the company's location in Braunschweig, we have the complete production chain for servo drive controllers under one roof. In a company with short decision-making paths, you will have the opportunity to take Metronix to the next level as part of the business unit leadership team alongside the General Manager and Director Sales. You will lead the local R&D team through technical expertise and a sense of future customer needs.
In addition, as head of the Servo Technology Center for the German and US area you represent the company within the Power Tools business unit.
With future innovations, you contribute to grow our global market share through world-class electronics design. This includes travel to customers to compare their needs with design ideas as well as internal travel to collaborate with our global teams.


Key Responsibilities:

• Member of the local leadership team and responsible for the global servo technology hub for the Power Tools Division

• Develop & manage the R&D team (11 employees) to drive the development of new products, among other things

• Responsible for the development of new products and for the modification / adaptation of existing product ranges

• Defining research projects in close cooperation with the customer's development engineers and the in-house sales managers

• Ensuring that time, quality and cost targets are met for all projects

• Regular monitoring of project status / milestones and reporting to the General Manager

• Collaboration with the engineering, production, quality assurance, etc. departments

• Competitive analysis

• Develop and implement best practices for the use of technology & global design standards (for design reviews, Toll Gates, FMEA, etc.)

• Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies

• Drive innovation and implement a research roadmap

• Conformity assessment

• Visionary / initiator for new developments:
o Product safety requirements
o Cloud, cyber security, predictive maintenance
o Energy efficiency, wide bandgap semiconductor

• Strengthening the location as a "servo technology hub" within the Power Tools division

• Strengthening cooperation with universities

• Representation of the development department to key customers and within the Group

Critical Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree in Power Electronics / Control Engineering / Drives or similar

• 7+ years working experience in the Servo Drive Technology

• 5+ years of leadership experience and creation of new organizational units and structures

• In-depth understanding of drive technology, in particular the integration of the "Power Drive System" (PDS) or the basic drive module (BDM)

• Experiences in working in an international industrial environment

• Well established network in Servo drive technology

• Experience in project management

• Proficient in MS office

• Fluent English skills
