    Leibniz ScienceCampus "SOEP-RegioHub - Regional Development Dynamics and their Social, Economic, and Political Consequences" was launched in 2020 as a joint project of Bielefeld University and the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at the DIW in Berlin (see ). In the second funding phase of the Campus between 2024 and 2028 Project "RegioEcon" aims at investigating the economic reasons and consequences of regional inequality in Germany. This research should be conducted in close cooperation with another 4 projects of the Campus. We are searching for a research employee based at Bielefeld University for the Project RegioEcon, coordinated by Prof. Herbert Dawid (Bielefeld University), Prof. Carsten Schröder (SOEP, Berlin) and Prof. Anna Zaharieva (Bielefeld University). The main working place is Bielefeld University with a possibility of regular research visits of the Socio-Economic Panel in Berlin. Your Tasks The research tasks essentially include:
  • scientific support of subproject RegioEcon "Dynamics of Regional Economic Developments", coordinated by Prof. Herbert Dawid (Bielefeld University), Prof. Carsten Schröder (SOEP, Berlin) and Prof. Anna Zaharieva (Bielefeld University)
  • research based on the empirical analysis of SOEP (Socio-Economic Panel) data
  • participation in the Graduate Training Program of the ScienceCampus and BIGSEM (Bielefeld Graduate School in Economics and Management)
  • cooperation with other researchers in the ScienceCampus
  • Employment is conducive to scientific qualification. We offer
  • salary according to Remuneration level 13 TV-L
  • fixed-term (4 years) (§ 2 (1) sentence 1 of the WissZeitVG; in accordance with the provisions of the WissZeitVG and the Agreement on Satisfactory Conditions of Employment, the length of contract may differ in individual cases)

  • Your Profile We expect
  • completed Master's degree (or equivalent) in economics, mathematical economics or related fields (e. g. Mathematics, Statistics)
  • good knowledge of econometric methods and Software (e. g. STATA, R)
  • experiences with mathematical modeling of socio-economic processes
  • fluent English (oral and written)
  • ability to work independently, self-sufficiently and enthusiastically
  • strong organization and coordination ability
  • ability to work in teams and cooperate with others
  • Preferred experience and skills
  • interest in the academic career
  • good knowledge in the field of labour economics
  • experience in working with computer simulations
