What you'll be doing

• Carrying out and evaluating wave propagation simulations on high-performance computers
• Comparing and interpreting numerical and experimental data in digital rock physics
• Developing new workflows for characterizing rock properties using numerical methods
• Evaluating passive seismic data
• Assisting in the preparation of research proposals
• Producing publications (peer-reviewed) and presentations in English
• Participating in administrative tasks

What you bring

• Successfully completed university degree (diploma or master's) preferably in the field of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Geosciences
• Experience in handling geophysical data
• Ideally, you have knowledge of numerical methods and experience with common programming languages (e.g. Matlab, Python)
• Very good English language skills

The weekly working hours are 39 hours. The position can also be filled part-time. Employment, remuneration, and social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD). In addition, Fraunhofer may grant performance- and success-related variable remuneration components. The position is initially limited to 2 years.
