Bringing more than 20 years of software development experience to the table, I have specialized in Ruby on Rails for many years. My focus shifted recently towards front-end development with frameworks like Vue and Svelte but I'm also well versed in various Node.js-based backend frameworks.

Migration of early prototype to a high-profile scalable website using Ruby on Rails and jQuery. Implementation of automated data import from multiple third-party movie databases and tv listings. Implementation of content recommendation system based on user ratings and preferences.

DaWanda, E-Commerce Online Portal for Creative Products

2007 – 2008

Improvement and refactoring of existing infrastructure built around a Ruby on Rails app. Solving scaling issues by migrating to a share-nothing architecture and a database cluster running on AWS. Improving overall service reliability by increasing test-coverage.

PaperC, Online platform for textbooks and scientific literature

2009 – 2011

Implementation of an online toolset for reading and organization of textbooks for academic use. Based on Ruby on Rails, Javascript and Adobe Flash. Automated import and conversion processes for digital textbooks from a variety of publishers.

Wheelmap, Online Directory for Wheelchair-Accessible Places

2011

Voluntary work to help building a Rails-based platform for finding wheelchair accessible places. Implement web front end based on Open Street Map and create backend services to import, export and process geodata.

Design and implement a responsive website for my favorite local coee shop and barista school. Includes a custom shop for ticket sales and a backend interface for managing courses and bookings.

Implementation and operation of an online flat-sharing platform for Immobilienscout24, based on Ruby on Rails and Backbone.js. Progressive search capabilities including an interactive map search using the Google Maps API.

Suitepad, Digital Guest Directory

Rewrite of the SuitePad frontend application running on custom Android-based tablet devices, using the Ember.js application framework and current web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, ECMAScript). Integration with microservice backend architecture using REST-APIs.
