Gökçe Uçak

My professional experience is mainly in translation and editing, with a strong focus on children’s literature. I worked as a Children’s Literature Editor/Translator at Masalperest from December 2024 to September 2025, where I edited manuscripts, evaluated submissions, collaborated closely with authors and illustrators, ensured cultural sensitivity, and managed production timelines. During this role, I also translated six children’s books and contributed to developing board and pop-up book projects.

Since September 2025, I’ve been working freelance as a Children’s Literature Editor/Translator, continuing to edit and translate age-appropriate, culturally sensitive stories for different publishers. Before that, between October 2023 and June 2024, I worked as an independent Turkish Translator/Translation Editor, translating English news into Turkish with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and natural flow, while coordinating within a translation process.

I started my career with an editorial internship at Bilgiyolu Kültür Yayınları (May–September 2023), where I supported editors with proofreading, author communication, and social media content, and also translated missing parts of English books and promotional texts.

I hold a B.A. in Translation and Interpretation (English) from Beykent University (2023), which laid the groundwork for my career in translation and editing. I’m currently pursuing an M.A. in History and Culture of the Baltic Sea Region at the University of Greifswald, expanding my cultural and academic perspective. In addition, I earned a TESOL Kids Certificate in 2023, strengthening my skills in working with children-focused language and content.
