Gurgen Petrossian

Dr. Gurgen Petrossian studied law at the Universities of Yerevan, Heidelberg and Erlangen-Nrünberg.

With a professional background spanning more than ten years, he possesses extensive academic and practical experience in the field of international law and human rights.

He teaches international law at the Universities of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and Yerevan State University.

He is the Chairman of German-Armenian Lawyers‘ Association and Member of the working group CSR/Human Rights of the German Institute for Compliance (DICO).

Awarded as Legal Advocate of the Year 2023 by Center for Truth and Justice.

Dr. Gurgen Petrossian is an international legal expert with over 15 years of experience in international criminal law, human rights, and legal reform. He holds a Doctor of Laws (Dr. iur.) from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and has held senior positions at renowned institutions, including the International Nuremberg Principles Academy. Dr. Petrossian has served as a legal advisor, academic, and consultant across Germany, Armenia, and the Middle East, contributing to national legislative reforms and international compliance efforts.

His expertise includes the implementation of international legal standards in domestic systems, particularly in the fields of international humanitarian law, business and human rights, and cooperation with international courts. As the lead drafter of Armenia’s law on cooperation with the International Criminal Court, he has played a pivotal role in aligning national frameworks with global norms. He also advises governments and international organizations such as the ILO on comparative legal analyses, including social protection systems and due diligence in global supply chains.

Dr. Petrossian lectures on international law in both Germany and Armenia and is a frequent contributor to legal publications. His interdisciplinary and multilingual approach, along with a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, enables him to deliver high-impact legal assessments and strategic policy advice.

Dr. Gurgen Petrossian is an international legal expert with over 15 years of experience in international criminal law, human rights, and legal reform. He began his legal education in Armenia, where he obtained his law degree (LL.B./Diploma in Law) with distinction, laying the groundwork for his later specialization in comparative and international law. He finished his LL.M. degree from Heidelberg University. 

His academic training spans both civil law and international legal systems, equipping him with a robust comparative legal perspective.
