For my master's thesis, I investigated the impact of a transcription factor in pancreatic beta cells regarding its role in diabetes. My responsibilities included:

  • Conducting literature reviews and summarizing research findings

  • Laboratory experiments and procedures contained:   
    • Molecular biological assays (qPCR, Western Blot, ELISA etc.)
    • Genetic engineering (viral transduction, CRISPR/Cas9)
    • Differential expression analysis of the transcriptome

I was employed in the cell culture laboratory of Prof. Dr. Henning von Horsten, where my responsibilities included the study of viral infections of insect cells. This included:

  • Passaging and expansion of the cell culture under appropriate hygienic conditions
  • Determination of the cell number and calculation of suitable virus loads
