I am Ninad Sunil Mandavkar, a Masters graduate from TU Ilmenau, I would like to apply for the post of Research Associate in Fraunhofer. I have 2 and a half years of experience in the field of R&D in the company ZMN TU Ilmenau, where I worked on fabrication of Li-ion batteries. Furthermore, I did an internship in Nanotechnology research group which revolved around lithographic processes for Si semiconductor, like preparing a wafer, photoresist application, alignment and exposure, hard and soft bake, development and so on. I also worked on 3D designing and printing of substrates using different resins through Formlabs.

 I have 2 and a half years of experience in the field of R&D in the company ZMN TU Ilmenau, where I worked under Univ-Prof Peter Schaaf, PD Dr. Dong Wang and MSc. Honglei Wang,  and proposed a feasible alternative to Lithium-ion batteries by incorporating Molybdenum Disulfide as an anode material having excellent mechanical and optoelectronic properties that enables the battery to sustain elevated carbonization temperatures for longer durations without compromising on the rate-capacity and the Absorption of the electrode by using our own novel approach called 'Grinding Promoted Intercalation Exfoliation (GPIE).' The hypothesis was further substantiated by characterization of exfoliated nanocomposites using AFM, SEM, XRD, UV-vis spectroscopy analysis. The objective of our Thesis was to prove that corroboration of 2D materials along with high conductivity graphene nanosheets can prove to be a landmark for new age batteries which are conducive to the future of Electric vehicles.

Furthermore, I did an Internship in Nanotechnology Research Group under Prof. Heiko Jakobs, MSc. Pedro Moreira where I worked on rapid prototyping and 3D designing/simulation of substrates/chambers/valves followed by printing, washing, IPA rinsing and UV-curing of high temperature/clear/transparent resins. Furthermore, gained hands-on pragmatic experience on Si semiconductor lithographic processes namely preparation of Si wafer, photoresist application, hard and soft bake, alignment and exposure of patterns through positive and negative masks using proximity lithography, developing of resist, anisotropic KOH etching of substrate, stripping of resist, spin-drying of Silicon wafers, wafer-dicing, metal lift-off, self-assembly of chips, plasma application, inspection using optical microscope, preparation of flexible PCB substrates, low-temperature soldering, handling of low vacuum sputtering (Cu/Au sputtering targets) & evaporation chambers (Cr/Al pellets), etc.

I have completed a Masters Degree in Micro & Nanotechnology with a 1.6 GPA and 1.3 in both my Masters and Project Thesis. I have studied subjects related to Nanotechnology, Surface chemistry, Spectroscopy analysis, Advanced Packaging, GHz and THz operated devices, Semiconductor technologies, Neuromorphic Engineering, Micro and Nanosensor technology, Nanostructure physics, Microfabrication lab, etc. During my course of studies, I had the opportunity to work inside a clean room for my Internship and Research where I worked on Si wafer processes. Furthermore, I learned hands-on operation of Evaporation and Sputtering chambers, loading and unloading of samples, switching of evaporation boats and sputtering targets, etc. I have also worked on 3D Designing of substrates and was responsible for handling the Formalbs printer and took care of washing the prints, rinsing the prints with IPA, UV-curing of the prints, inspection of uncured parts, switching of resin tanks and installing of new cartridges for the printer.
