Song Chong

Berlin based curator and photography specialist, I am an art historian that is inspired and driven by the passion to help foster and create communities of creativity and authenticity by bringing people together through the possibilities of photography. I have been working in the creative industries and the photography space and in education for the majority of my academic and professional career. What has driven me is both my love of art and photography as well as my firm belief that both have the ability to shape our view of the world, of history, and most importantly, engage with and challenge our communities.

For over 20 years in New York City and throughout Europe, I have been able to work with some of the biggest names in art, photography and fashion, both within the artistic and commercial context.  My experience working as Gallery Director at Milk Studios, especially during New York Fashion Week, allowed me to merge the art and commerce of photography together, successfully managing sponsored exhibitions and activations with clients such as American Express, Estee Lauder, MAC Cosmetics, Lexus amongst others.  Previous to this experience, as a producer, I managed fashion and commercial photoshoots from conception, to budgeting, to onsite production and post production. As a curator, I have been passionate about working with both established and emerging photographers.  In doing so, I always made sure that the exhibitions that I mounted had a multifaceted approach, programming events and activations to further engage the audience and tell  authentic and meaningful stories .

I hold both a Master's Degree and a Doctorate in Art History, with a specialized focus on photography.

I have over 25 years of international experience in these fields, as well as expertise in writing, content creation and production.
