Uelison Santos

As a machine learning expert, I have specialized in the development and application of algorithms and technologies that enable companies to gain valuable insights from large amounts of data. 

I am currently working for Picavi GmbH, creating AI solutions based on smart glasses data to improve the worker's environment in warehouses. Here, I am developing machine learning solutions from the requisites to the deployment in production. I had the opportunity to work on its first production-ready AI product, based on our research project on Human Activity Recognition. I am currently developing further our HAR models and working with Time Series predictions on sensor data.

Before, I worked at Unisinos SoftwareLab, developing research projects for Siemens Healthineers and Dell. In the first project, we fused 3D cameras with IoT data in a surgery room to understand the surgery workflow. Based on the video data, we built a 3D Pose Estimation software using Deep Learning. Then, we developed an ML solution to evaluate users in an authentication system using Auto Encoders. In my last project, we developed an NLP solution that receives a description of a user problem and outputs the computer part that needs to be changed to fix it for Dell. Before Unisinos, I accepted an opportunity in a consulting company, working with Power BI, SQL, and implementing solutions using Microsoft products.

I always worked during the day and studied at night. Thus, I concluded my degree in Computer Science with a final thesis focused on agriculture prediction using IoT and AI. This work was awarded and brought me the opportunity to do a master’s with a scholarship, focusing on Machine Learning. In this opportunity, for a year, I studied at FAU-Erlangen while working at MaD Lab on a health project in partnership with Siemens, FAU, and Unisinos. This project resulted on my thesis where I developed a new method using Object Detection ML software to understand the doctors’ activities.
