Zhamal Chekirbaeva

I have received the Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics and, currently, study MSc Ecosystem Services in Dresden. My specialization of the programme is Regional Development and Natural Resource Management and I am interested in Data analysis.

Throughout my student years, I have experienced different positions in international organizations such as AIESEC, IDLO, MFR, and the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (CESDRR). I want to highlight my experience in MFR as a Data Analyst intern where I developed a database of financial and social indicators of banks and other financial service providers around the world (data entry, import to web-based platform, trouble-shooting, analysis of results, etc.), and the CESDRR, where I gained knowledge of the current state of climate change, pitfalls in terms of infrastructure, and environmental problems of the Central Asian countries and worked within Sendai Program implementation.

I have received the Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics and can work with statistical applications such as SPSS and E-views. Currently, I am a master's student of Ecosystem Services (ESS) at TU Dresden – IHI Zittau, where I have learned more about concepts of ESS, global and regional frameworks for sustainable development and climate change mitigation, biodiversity and ecosystem governance, and ecological economics. My specialization is Regional Development and Natural Resource Management and the courses in this field covered circular economy, integrated water resources management, management systems and restoration in natural forests, and many other interesting subjects.
