Academic Sales Engineer, Physicist - Bergkirchen, Deutschland - Thorlabs

Thorlabs is a leading designer and manufacturer of Photonics equipment for research, manufacturing, and biomedical applications. You are going to be part of a dynamic team and work very closely with physicists and engineers and collaborate with the European and global sales and marketing teams. You will be responsible for business development with our customers from academia in Europe. To achieve this goal, you need to have a solid technical background in disciplines such as physics, photonics or engineering and be interested not only in high level technical discussions with scientists but also in addressing their administrative requirements.

Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Identify new markets and customers as well as new projects at existing customers
• Conduct both technical and administrative discussions with customers
• Manage sales related contracts and tenders and coordinate them with contract administrators
• Define strategies for territory and specific market growth together with the Academic Sales Manager
• Visit Key Customers frequently and attend tradeshows regularly
• Participate in developing ideas and technical concepts for exhibiting Thorlabs products on tradeshows

Requirements

• Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree in Physics or other Photonics related discipline.
• Hands-on experiences with designing and setting up optical experiments
• Willingsness for traveling up to 30% in Europe
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills; must be comfortable with presenting concepts to a large audience
