    The job

    The Department of Solar Materials Biotechnology (SOMA) offers position for a scientist (f/m/x) in microfluidics for photobiotechnology. The successful candidate will be working in our interdisciplinary team developing analytical and preparative concepts for a basic understanding and for technical applications of natural photosynthesis with a focus on the synthesis of hydrogen from water. Microfluidic solutions might also be applied for the determination of biochemical, physiological, or microbiological data with relevance for biotechnology.

    Your tasks

  • Leadership and management of our well equipped microfluidics laboratory
  • Design and development of microstructured reaction systems for photobiotechnology
  • Development of gas-liquid separation technology using microfluidics
  • Supervision (technician, students)
  • Providing high quality scientific outputs in the form of journal publications
  • Assisting technology transfer
  • Collaboration with other scientists in our center and external partners

  • Your profile

  • Master's degree and PhD in chemistry, bioengineering, biotechnology, material sciences with a spezialization on microfuidics
  • Experience in lab-on-a-chip solutions in biotechnology
  • Experience in microbiology, biochemistry, photobiotechnology
  • Interest in bioprocess analysis and development
  • Excellent English (written & spoken)
  • Presentation skills
  • Team player skill
  • Ability to work independently
  • Solid experience in scientific writing and reporting
  • Skills in biochemical data analysis
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in handling photosynthetic microorganisms
