- An important part of your PhD is to develop novel behavior planning algorithms that can handle interaction between the traffic agents.
- You apply machine learning techniques combined with model based solutions with regard to performance, training, and suitability to advance the state of the art.
- Furthermore, you are part of the team defining figure of merits for the reliability of the behaviour planning for automated driving.
- Also, you work in an agile and diverse research team with exchange across several projects. In addition, you contribute to the scientific community with publications at top tier conferences and journals.
- Last but not least, you validate/evaluate your algorithms both in simulation as well as in reality on a test vehicle.
- Education: masters degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or Mathematics with excellent academic achievements
- Personality and Working Practice: self-motivated, thinking logically, flexible, team player, goal-oriented and open-minded
- Experience and Knowledge: profound knowledge of machine learning algorithms and principles, preferably deep learning, expertise in prediction and planning, experience in automated driving systems and/or robotics, proven programming skills in Python, C++ is a plus, experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, Tensorflow)
- Enthusiasm: passion for new ideas and development of solutions for real-world problems
- Languages: fluent in English (written and spoken), German is a plus

An explainable and anticipating behavior of driver assistance and automated driving systems is key to their acceptance by the customers. Our research group develops novel groundbreaking behavior planning solutions using state of the art classical and machine learning algorithms.
