    The Working Student Data & Research supports our commercial teams with internally and externally sourced customer data to deliver business growth, and profitability and enhance customer retention. You will research market trends and customer requirements which can lead to enhanced product and service offerings.

    The Working Student Data & Research reports to our Team Lead Data & Research and is a part of our Global Commercial team. Our working environment supports a fully remote setup with the position officially being based out of our office in Cologne, Germany. We enable and encourage you to travel to our premium esports events and offer you the opportunity to grow into a career in gaming and esports.

    What you'll do:

  • Create and maintain a data catalog containing demographic data of our most important titles
  • Capture and aggregate different digital performance metrics across a variety of platforms to report to internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the development of a data-based forecasting tool for media performance
  • Utilize research data from third parties (. Nielsen Reports) to prepare game/event KPIs for the commercial team (. player demographics for specific games) and product KPIs for the commercial team (. viewership)
  • Act as liaison to facilitate communication between our Research team and our Media Rights, Brand Partnerships, and Product team, as well as Management within ESL
  • Cooperate with other Research Stakeholders within the marketing department
  • Perform other duties within the Commercial Operations unit as required

    • Hypothetical breakdown of the role and responsibilities:

  • 35% Fulfilling individual requests for customer insights from the Commercial department related to pitches and renewal conversations
  • 30% Creating and maintaining data catalogs for success metrics from internal and external sources
  • 25% Tending to strategic requests from other departments for data and insights to support data-based decision-making across the entire organization
  • 10% Supporting in the relationship management of our external research partners

    Requirements

  • Enrolled in University studying Sports Management, Economics, Media, Marketing, Communications, or another related field (preferably graduating in 1 to 2 years from now).
  • Basic understanding of competitive and esports gaming titles
  • Strong project management, organizational and time management skills to complete work with accuracy and exceptional attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple, concurrent projects in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and evaluative skills
  • Work independently and collaborate well with other teams globally
  • Able to assess and improve processes and workflows in your area of responsibility
  • Flexibility to work with colleagues in Europe, North America and Asia and on occasion accommodate calls and deadlines aligned to their time zones
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) required, German is a plus
  • First experience in Marketing, Sales, Commercial Operations, Product Management or another related field in the sports, gaming, or entertainment industries would be a plus
