    The Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT Rostock) with approx. 300 employees and guests is one of the leading European research institutions in the field of catalysis. LIKAT is a competent partner for the research and development of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts as well as catalytic processes and technologies. LIKATs focus is on application-oriented basic research and applied research. Therefore, it cooperates with industrial companies and research institutes worldwide. The research group of Prof. Evgenii Kondratenko in the department of Advanced methods for applied catalysis has an opening for a position in this area.

    Your task:

  • Preparation of heterogeneous catalysts
  • Their characterization by complementary techniques
  • Perform and analyze catalytic tests using high-throughput reactors
  • Perform and analyze in situ/operando studies
  • Perform and analyze mechanistic and kinetic tests using transient methods
  • Document, analyze and interpret the results obtained for the preparation of publications
  • Your competence:

    We are looking for a motivated researcher (m/f/d) having a diploma degree or a master's degree in chemistry or chemical enginerering with a strong background in synthetic inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and/or heterogeneous catalysis. The candidate should be committed to research and have proficiency in written and spoken English. It is advantageous if the applicant is familiar with gas chromatographic and mass spectroscopic analysis and has good computer skills (MS Office, Origin), preferably including programming (e.g. Python, Matlab).

    Our offer: We offer a challenging PhD position in an excellent, international environment at the LIKAT Rostock. Mentoring and support for the doctoral student is provided through a comprehensive training phase and regular exchanges with the supervisor. The position is available from June 1, 2024 and limited to 3 years. Extension is possible upon mutual agreement. Place of work is Rostock, a university city with direct access to the Baltic Sea. The salary is based on public service rates of the German states (E13 TVL, 50%).
