    Information about the position

    As a Decision Scientist in the Network domain, you will, among other projects, build upon the existing definitions of the performance metrics of our carrier portfolio, automate their tracking, discover ways to optimise the services provided, and provide insights for the product and business teams on the optimal agreements with third party carriers. Your first project will likely be to identify the biggest opportunities to retrieve compensation from carriers for parcels that are lost or delivered too late and help streamline the process. You will work closely with Strategic Partnership Management teams and other Decision Scientists within the domain. You will report to the Network domains Team Lead of Data Science & Analytics.

    Within Data Science & Analytics at Vinted, we have three distinct roles. We believe that each role can make a similarly-sized business impact, and therefore our salary ranges are the same for all three roles. To better understand your role as a Decision Scientist, here are brief descriptions of each role in the department:

  • Decision Scientists are responsible for actionable insights, identifying and sizing opportunities, and developing automated tools that increase the quality of product and business decisions by applying statistical methods and data-driven decision making.
  • Data Scientists are responsible for identifying algorithmic opportunities, ensuring those opportunities are addressed in an optimal fashion and design, developing and maintaining production-grade statistical and machine learning algorithms.
  • Analytics Engineers are responsible for data curation: Translating data needs from stakeholders into architecting, building and maintaining efficient & reliable data models and pipelines.
  • In this position, youll

  • Collaborate with the Strategic Partnership Managers on projects within the Network domain to identify strategic opportunities, and answer key business questions. The opportunities will be related to third-party carriers cost optimisation where even small improvements can have millions of euros impact, their performance, delivery network development, and our agreements with them among other topics.
  • Ensure these questions are answered in an optimal fashion (e.g. in the form of an ad-hoc deep-dive, experiment, dashboard, or automatically recurring analysis)
  • Analyze identified opportunities to understand their scope and impact (i.e. size opportunities)
  • Set up and own the key performance indicators for the domain, including selection, forecasting, and proactively flagging issues
  • Enable your team and direct stakeholders to independently leverage data for business insights via dashboarding tools (Looker)
  • Inspire the usage of data & analytics within the domain to make data-driven decisions
  • About you

  • Extensive proven experience in Data Analytics or in a related position (typically 4+ years of working experience or similar activities resulting in a similar level of proficiency)
  • Highly business-oriented and comfortable with iterative processes
  • A good communicator who can present complex topics clearly and persuasively to different audiences
  • Comfortable with constantly changing environment and able to structure your own work
  • Able to balance between analyses depth (time needed) and business impact
  • Statistically proficient (e.g. regression analysis, A/B testing)
  • Proficient in SQL and experience in an analytics language (Python, R, etc.) as well as BI tools (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Excellent at communicating in spoken and written English
  • Advantage: Experience working in the logistics or adjacent industry (e.g. quick commerce)
