Research Scientist (f/m/d) - Ophthalmology Research
full time and permanent
You will develop novel, cell-based screening methods and platforms in a fully funded research project. You will actively lead research projects, ultimately contributing to collaborative drug discovery campaigns using induced pluripotent stem cell derived Retinal Pigment Epithelial (RPE) cells, within EVOTEC. Research projects will thereby focus on the area of developing novel screening platforms to investigate retinal degeneration.
Your key responsibilities
Supervise a team of scientists employing iPSCs for disease modeling and drug discovery
Lead assay development and screening campaigns for projects in RPE cell biology
Establish and expand collaborative projects within Evotec, as well as academic groups and industry partners
Data analysis and review for presentations and reporting
Occasional travel to meet with partners at other Evotec sites
Your qualifications
PhD degree with industry experience in assay development or screening, or a few years relevant academic expertise in ophthalmology
Experience in the following is required: RPE biology, disease modeling, and assay development
Experience in quality control, upscaling, and phenotypic screening is essential
Experience in managing and mentoring research assistants is required
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff, partners and customers
High level of motivation, initiative, flexibility and team work
Fluent in English
