Summary

About the Position: Oversees, assists, and leads approximately ten to fifteen Medical Support Assistant (OA) employees assigned to the Central Appointments section. Provides information in response to patient inquiries on medical providers, scheduled release dates, authorized treatment; extent of medical, laboratory, x-ray, and pharmacy coverage and general hospital procedures and regulations.

Duties

• Serve as Lead Medical Support Assistant (OA) for the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
• Distribute daily workload within limits established by the supervisor among employees in accordance with established workflow.
• Provide on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices.
• Coordinate appointments, follow-up visits, messages to clinics, and provide feedback for improvement on internal processes and staff performance to chain of command.
• Utilize office automation equipment, word processing software, and mission specific medical software to compile reports and type a variety of materials.
• Provide information in response to patient inquiries.
• Provide appointments for referrals/consultations generated from internal and external organizations.
