Hauptaufgaben
Receives patients, reviews consult issued by the referring provider; verifies patient information and eligibility. Based on the medical language and description in the consult, determines the proper specialty requested and books an appointment with a host nation provider or with a physician at an Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) via per phone call. Informs the patient of date, time and location of the appointment and supplies patient with all documentation required during the appointment. Reviews all options when booking appointments with a host nation provider.
Verifies patient categories and generates a request for pre-approval of civilian medical care for TRICARE Prime Patients. For all TRICARE patients, reviews requested care, counsels patient on any care not covered by TRICARE, obtains a signed claims form, informs the patient on where to locate ancillary services such as pharmacies in the network. Ensures that all required ancillary services such as labs or X-rays have been ordered by the physician and are available for the appointment. If such orders are absent, contacts the physician and requests the required orders. If the information on the referral is insufficient for the host nation provider, the incumbent requests clarification from the referring physician.
Instructs patient on where to find the provider, to bring current medications to the appointment, where to call to cancel an appointment, and provides documentation for the host nation provider that indicates the patient's insurance status, billing instructions and instructions on where to send the medical report. If inpatient services are needed, refers the patient to the Host Nation Liaison for additional instructions. Provides extensive patient education on the referral process, host nation health care practices, and German cultural differences related to healthcare. Responds to patient questions, and refers patient to the Beneficiary Assistance and Counseling Coordinator if needed.
Based on host nation preferred provider listings and knowledge gained from experience and each patient, selects the host nation provider best suited for the required care, age and needs of the patient. Calls host nation provider office, informs office staff of the requirements, and informs the patient of any special requirements or instructions of the host nation provider.
After the appointment, tracks host nation medical reports, submits them for translation. Following the translation, sends medical reports to the referring physician and ensures placement of the report copy in the patient's official medical record.
For TRICARE Prime patients, enters an electronic Care Authorization to ensure that the TRICARE contractor will approve and pay the invoice resulting from the appointment. Selects proper medical category and treatment date. Tracks all referrals in the Referral Management System Tracking Report (RMSTR).
Provides information to patients who have concerns or questions about bills, researches status of invoice payment in TRICARE4 U, and provides basic TRICARE benefits information to patients.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifikationsanforderungen

C-4a:
E&T Level I: 2 years of general experience as described below.
Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation, must have 2 years of creditable experience that included simple clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.
E&T Level II: 1 year of general experience as described below.
E&T Level III A and IV A: No additional experience required, however, the completed apprenticeship must have been as a Doctor's Assistant, or in a commercial, business or administrative occupation, e.g. Industriekaufmann/ frau, Kaufmann/frau im Gross und Einzelhandel, or in steuer- und wirtschaftsberatenden Berufen, Rechtsanwaltskanzleien, Banken or similar occupations.
E&T Level III B and C: No additional experience required.
E&T Level IV B and C: Not creditable for positions in this occupational series
E&T Level IV D and V: No additional experience required.
General Experience: Experience which includes simple clerical work in an office or store or working with computers, as a cashier, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events, etc
• Office automation skills are required.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology desired.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English AND German Language Proficiency level B2 required.
