Gordon Brothers has a tremendous opportunity to join a high performing team of seasoned professionals in our Commercial & Industrial division. The Director role is based in Germany or Spain (but we may consider home based for the right candidate) and reports to Duncan Ainscough, Managing Director, Commercial & Industrial. This role is responsible for assisting clients in evaluating remarketing methods for various types of industrial assets, as well as sourcing and managing equipment trading, disposition projects across multiple sectors but focusing on Construction, Mining & Transportation The successful candidate will also work with our growing Lending & Transaction team and undertake regular valuations, deal structuring and execution duties for potential Industrial Asset-based Financings, including Acquisition, Working Capital and Bridge Financing, DIP Financing and Sale & Lease back transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs machinery and equipment analysis on equity & debt deals for the division that may also include machinery and equipment as part of a multi-asset transaction.
• Working closely with our Capital Team on pan European Sale & Leaseback transactions supporting the underwriting of equipment values and market sector analysis.
• Analyses machinery and equipment in order to establish valuation for inclusion in equity models.
• Sources machinery and equipment opportunities for the division through an established network of dealers, brokers, lenders, Insolvency & restructuring professionals, turnaround firms.
• Growing the regional and global network of machinery and equipment contacts in the construction, infrastructure and mining sector and linking Gordon Brothers services to new perspective clients.
• Participation in communication with borrowers, other lenders, consultants, and counsel.
• Provide support in the discussion/ negotiation of amendments/ restructurings of portfolio investments as applicable and providing analytical and written report support to the senior management members.
• Building relationships with and marketing to the Insolvency, M&A, Restructuring and Lending community across Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands and the Nordics.

Education and experience:

• Ten or more years of machinery and equipment and/or valuation work focused on commercial and industrial equipment either for established Valuation practice, Finance & Leasing Company or recognized Auction Company.
• Experience in cross-border trading deals out of Europe, with the USA, Canadian and African Markets.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse commercial and industrial machinery and equipment by networking with professional contacts in the construction and mining industries in Europe.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Expert knowledge of the Europe based OEMs of construction and mining equipment and experience performing equipment appraisals for transactions that would support equity positions in multi-asset deals or lending opportunities.
• Team player with strong drive for results, bias for action with superior analytical and time management skills.
• Proven strength in managing relationships to grow the business.
• Strong willingness to travel including company site visits to inspect and analyse machinery and equipment in person. Will typically include overnight and occasionally some weekend travel.
• Medium level of physical effort required including walking through large manufacturing/ warehouse/storage sites, frequent travel and hands-on assessment of equipment.
• Fluent in German and English. A third language is an advantage.
