    You will be a member of the engineering group that develops our photonic quantum computer's next iteration. The development and demonstration of photonic systems for quantum computing will be the main focus of your efforts. A group of architects and designers of photonic devices and quantum computing will collaborate with you.

    The role

    • Designing techniques and algorithms for the management and synchronization of photonic components such as switches, modulators, and lasers.
    • Creating configurations that integrate photonics and electronics, utilizing technologies like FPGA or microcontrollers.
    • Conducting tests, measurements, and characterizations of photonic devices and Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), involving setup assembly, data acquisition, and analysis.
    • Investigating new technologies in quantum photonics.
    • Overseeing internal and EU projects.
    • Staying abreast of the latest advancements in scientific and engineering developments in the fields of photonics and quantum optics.
    • Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team consisting of electrical engineers and quantum physicists.
    • Presenting findings at conferences and internal meetings.

    Requirements

    • PhD in Electrical engineering, Telecommunications, Photonics or relevant discipline
    • Experience with optical and electrical equipment and photonic and electronic ICs
    • Experience with FPGA prototyping (Verilog/VHDL)
    • Experience with designing and demonstrating optical switches and modulators and working with telecommunication equipment is a strong plus
    • Hands-on mentality with pro-active, innovative, accurate and independent style of working
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Good communication skills and teamwork
    • Passion for your profession
    • Proficiency in English language (verbal & written), German is a plus.
