- Designing techniques and algorithms for the management and synchronization of photonic components such as switches, modulators, and lasers.
- Creating configurations that integrate photonics and electronics, utilizing technologies like FPGA or microcontrollers.
- Conducting tests, measurements, and characterizations of photonic devices and Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), involving setup assembly, data acquisition, and analysis.
- Investigating new technologies in quantum photonics.
- Overseeing internal and EU projects.
- Staying abreast of the latest advancements in scientific and engineering developments in the fields of photonics and quantum optics.
- Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team consisting of electrical engineers and quantum physicists.
- Presenting findings at conferences and internal meetings.
- PhD in Electrical engineering, Telecommunications, Photonics or relevant discipline
- Experience with optical and electrical equipment and photonic and electronic ICs
- Experience with FPGA prototyping (Verilog/VHDL)
- Experience with designing and demonstrating optical switches and modulators and working with telecommunication equipment is a strong plus
- Hands-on mentality with pro-active, innovative, accurate and independent style of working
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and teamwork
