    This role will accountable for identification and governance of technologies related to suture needles' manufacturing. Leading the equipment and technology aspects of the worldwide needles' platform in collaboration with process owner and serving as a key domain expert within the multiple Technology Platforms. By collaborating with key partners and other technical leaders to ensure the latest technologies are identified, tested and implemented within the needles manufacturing space. A balance of technical expertise and supply chain knowledge is required to coordinate and translate business requirements to technical solutions.

    Reporting to the Director of GTO WCH Technology, Strategy, and Innovation, the incumbent will partner with many other technical platform owners and engage within the team to drive innovation within the Wound Closure manufacturing sites. The role can be based in any of the Ethicon WCH manufacturing sites, where needle manufacturing exists, or at Raritan, NJ. Up to 25% of domestic and international travel may be required.

    Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position will:

    Key Focus Areas:

    • Manage programs and lead governance of the platform project portfolio and communication of priorities and updates within the Needles technical area.
    • Assist in areas such as problem identification, root cause analysis, project management, financial analysis, project development, and efficiency or productivity improvement.
    • Collaborate with other experts for the identification of new technology solutions and collaborate with external partners and vendors to further develop these technologies.
    • Work with technical experts and leaders from different sites and functions through leadership of projects and initiatives geared towards achieving process improvements, cost reductions, and quality enhancements.
    • Supports the introduction of new manufacturing processes or equipment.
    • Ensure global alignment to outstanding technology and process engineering practices across manufacturing sites.
    • Collaborate with Value Stream Leaders, Product Management, Manufacturing Site Engineering, R&D, and other relevant functions to drive E2E initiatives in this technical area.

    General Responsibilities:

    • Drive highly complex end-to-end projects and/or programs ensuring all standards and business needs are met.
    • Champion the development and implementation of ground-breaking innovation as well as other major technology improvements over the strategic horizon.
    • Develop imaginative strategies for the efficient completion of projects.
    • Set engineering standards and direction for the applicable technical area and is recognized as the source for guidance in the field.
    • Technical support to manufacturing sites for sophisticated process and equipment issues, where higher level of technical expertise is required.
    • Sustain the platform governance to drive alignment between sites and functions in order to enable identification of key programs and outstanding solutions in technology and engineering practices
    • Develop short and long-term strategic plans for the technology platform and ensure consistency to plan.
    • Lead the evaluation and selection of best-in-class equipment and process technologies, and collaborates with global teams to ensure alignment across sites.
    • Cultivate external partnerships and forge internal collaboration across all levels of the Enterprise.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Science field is required.
    • An advanced degree, such as an MS or an MBA is preferred.

    Experience

    • Requires 8 years of relevant work experience process, equipment, or manufacturing engineering in a Medical Devices environment.
    • Experience in Pharmaceutical and/or Biologics is helpful.
    • Five or more years of project leader experience with strong project management experience.
    • Supervision and technical leadership experience is preferred.

    Competencies

    • Six Sigma/Process Excellence and/or Project Management/PMP/FPX certification is preferred.
    • Advanced computer skills and use of software applications. Strong computer background (MS Office, MS Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
    • Able to lead technology, embrace financial goals and apply customer-focused decision-making
    • Able to implement organizational change and work effectively to drive alignment in a global environment.
    • Proficient in leading projects, crafting credibility within technical teams and growing technical capabilities fo the group.
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment developing manufacturing standards
    • Building technical strategies and driving implementation while establishing strong networks and handling stakeholders.
    • Posses strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
    • Able to prioritize multiple commitments and technical problem-solving.
    • Able to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment
