    Main purpose of the role:

    Gowling WLG is on an expansion path. Focussing on France, Germany and beyond. This role will focus a lot on hiring individuals, teams and offices and include a lot of strategic and project management work. You will be working very closely with the Director of International Development.

  • Working in Frankfurt alongside local stakeholders and project sponsor to shape and develop the strategic growth plan for Frankfurt, Munich, and potentially beyond.
  • You will be responsible for: Identifying and supporting the execution of key initiatives Scoping and securing investment support. The delivery of the project – day to day operational requirements from conception to completion
  • Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To work closely and support the Director of International Growth, Team and Sector Leaders, Senior Leadership and colleagues in the project team to develop, shape and implement prioritised growth projects in Paris and Germany.
  • Highlight actionable items through regular review and follow-up; deliver and support the project team to deliver these action follow-ups
  • Contribute to and support the development and execution of the Firm's growth plans
  • Implement detailed project plans and be involved in the delivery of these projects
  • To be able to oversee and action all elements of the project plan. Tasks including (but not limited to): define requirements and monitor, lead and action those through to implementation establishing the work plan and staffing for project activities, iterations or phases, and arranging for and conducting recruitment interviews or assignment of project personnel and allotment of available departmental resources to various project phase conduct and attend regular project status meetings with the wider project team provide project progress status, delays and issues to stakeholder and project sponsors in timely manner Convey and manage timelines, deliverables, risks, delays and impacts to project team members and lead teams as required Develop and implement project management procedures and methodologies to achieve business goals Support the Director of International Growth with other reasonable tasks as and when requested in relation to the firm's international growth plans
  • Key Skills and Experience:

  • Ideally you will have previous experience of working in Legal or Professional services and being involved in similar growth projects
  • Demonstrable experience of competency in a project management role involving the successful execution of multiple or large projects, either in consultancy or client-side environments.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading significant growth projects – at both process and operational level
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
  • A self-starting attitude – with the confidence to proactively build, and leverage, stakeholder relationships to develop growth opportunities pipeline
  • Strong workshop design and facilitation skills – with the ability to engage with people and influence at all levels
  • Languages requirement – English, French and German at conversational level as a minimum
  • Demonstrable ability to develop and execute a project resource plan that ensures the right people are in the right place, doing the right things, at the right time
  • Travel across our offices in Europe (UK, Germany and France) is paramount to the role so flexibility to travel will be required
