PostDoc/Senior Scientist (f/m/d)

temporary basis, full time

The Center for Digital Surgery is a freshly founded research hub, with a strong focus on bridging the gap between methodical research and its clinical application. The research group of Prof. Dr. Jannis Hagenah aims at "making surgery intelligent" by leveraging multimodal data, e.g. intra-operative as well as pre-operative images, biosignals and electronic health records, to build AI-driven and robotic surgical assistance systems. Since the Center for Digital Surgery is part of the Department for General, Visceral and Pediatric Surgery and closely related to the Göttingen School of Surgery, we are working on closing the loop from clinical data collection over methodological research and proof-of-concept-studies in lab setups to the application of clinical demonstrators in the operating room.

With this position, we aim to offer a long-term perspective for an excellent researcher. The position is initially limited until October 31, 2028, with the option to extend to a permanent position. Salary according TV-L.

Your tasks

lead independent research, with the aim to establish your own scientific profile
take an active role in shaping research at the Center for Digital Surgery
participation in project acquisition as well as taking leadership within them
(co-)supervise PhD students and student researchers
participate in teaching activities
represent the Center for Digital Surgery on national and international level

Your qualifications

excellent track record of conducting research in digital surgery, clinical AI, medical robotics or a related field
doctorate in engineering, computer science, robotics, mathematics or similar field of study
experience in leadership and managing research projects is a plus
expert knowledge in one or more of the following fields is a plus:
- Medical Image Analysis
- Analysis of clinical time series
- Natural Language Processing, preferably in medical applications
- Robot Control and Automatization, preferably in medical applications
