    Description

    The junior process engineer in the natural derivatives department is responsible for supporting the assessment, development, implementation, and continued operation of both novel and established processing equipment in both new and existing production environments. Particularly relevant are extraction and purification processes, which are applied for dealcoholization of wine, raw fruit materials, and fruit waste streams as part of the natural derivatives strategy.

    Responsibilities

    · Plan and support process development and validation R&D projects at laboratory-, pilot- and production-scale environments

    · Support process design efforts from the conceptual level through to detailed design, including:

    • Mass and energy balances
    • Engineering design and dimensioning calculations
    • 2D process and instrumentation diagrams
    • Instrumentation and unit selection
    • 3D plant design

    · Oversee plant construction efforts - coordinate 3rd parties including, among others, equipment suppliers, welders, automation and programming service providers, and pipe-fitters

    · Support the on-site installation, integration, and testing of processing units

    · Identify and drive the implementation of improvements to maximize throughput and efficiency

    · Lead the proposal, initiation, testing and implementation of process optimizations

    · Prepare technical analysis reports of process equipment

    · Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting

    · Provide input to the Process Control Strategy and Operational Control Strategy

    · Provide technical support for sales and management queries

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Bachelor, Master, or diploma degree in chemical process engineering or similar
    • Experience across the areas of R&D, process design, and plant construction in the food industry
    • Experience with common process engineering tools including flow-sheeting and 3D modeling programs (e.g. MS Visio, AutoCAD plant 3D) and process simulation programs (e.g. Aspen) desirable
    • Knowledge of European codes and standards and generally accepted Good Engineering Practice
    • Ability to work with people with varied professional backgrounds and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
    • MUST have strong English and German language skills
    • Self-starter with the ability to perform well under pressure and continuously changing priorities
    • MUST be located in Munich region and willing to travel in Europe and worldwide
    • Fast learner, systematic, analytical, and curious about software and usability.
