    What to expect:
  • Participation in German research project with international relevance
  • Working on IP related development, integrating, testing, and debugging tasks (embedded software in a Software Defined Radio)
  • Setting up and managing demonstration equipment
  • Target operating system is Linux (Ubuntu)

    • You will be working for a client company in the telecommunications sector.

    What you bring along:
  • Knowledge of IPv6 and Mobility Protocols:
    Familiarity with and good knowledge of in IPv6 (RFC 2460) and its deployment, including IPv6 addressing and subnetting
    Basic knowledge of with Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6, RFC 6275) for enabling mobile device mobility within IPv6 networks
    Understanding of Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6, RFC 5213) for efficient mobile device mobility
    management
    Understanding of Location Identification Separation Protocol (LISP, RFC 6830) for scalable and efficient routing and addressing
  • Experience in Internet Protocols and Routing:
    Experience in and comprehensive knowledge of Internet protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP,
    ICMP, and IP addressing (IPv4 and IPv6) as defined by RFC 791 and RFC 2460
    Familiarity with configuring and managing routers and switches (especially Cisco), adhering to standards like RFC 1812 (IPv4 Routing) and RFC 4294 (IPv6)
    Good knowledge of Internet application layer protocols like HTTP (RFC 2616), SNMP (RFC
    1157), DNS (RFC 1035), and FTP (RFC 959)
    Basic knowledge of dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF (RFC 2328), BGP (RFC 4271),
    and EIGRP for efficient packet routing
  • Linux Skills:
    Experience in and comprehensive knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu)
    for configuring and managing network services and servers
    Experience in and comprehensive knowledge of Linux networking utilities and command-line
    tools (e.g., ifconfig, ip, iptables) for network configuration and troubleshooting
    Experience in scripting and automation using shell scripts (e.g., Bash) to streamline
    configuration and network management tasks
  • Network Debugging and Performance Testing:
    Experience in network debugging using tools such as ping, traceroute, and netstat to identify and resolve connectivity and performance issues
    Experience in packet analysis with Wireshark (formerly Ethereal) to diagnose network problems,
    capture traffic, and analysis protocol interactions
    Ability to conduct network performance testing using tools like iPerf, JPerf, and WANem (WAN
    emulator) to measure bandwidth, latency, and throughput
  • Fluency in German and English
