    Hauptaufgaben

    Analyses overhead cranes and prepares engineer scopes, cost estimates and designs for major repair or construction for these facilities. Analyses requirements for new technology applications such as solar roof and solar voltaic energy, and applies this to the design process for major repair and construction. Reviews work requests and other basic material submitted from various installations and units. Gathers additional information during field surveys, inspections and discussions with representatives of requesting units. Investigates existing equipment layout and conditions. Analyzes mechanical needs, studies feasibility and. practicability of proposed project. Determines nature and extent of work, operations and methods involved, time re-quired to complete each place or feature and equipment needed. Considers requirements concerning environmental pollution. Works closely together with the local Energy Manager and consider his/her requirements concerning energy conservation. Recommends and justifies necessary changes in engineering terms. Calculates loads, sizes, capacities, dimension fits and other aspects. Prepares preliminary engineering designs, specifications and estimates of heating, plumbing, ventilation, water and sewage systems with regard to size, space, capacities and economy. Coordinates assignment with other agency engineers responsible for the adequacy of related features such as lighting, power and structures to ensure proper integration of the assignment. After review and approval of project by higher authority, prepares final plans, specifications and cost estimates covering work to be performed. Spot checks contractors' work in progress to avoid misunderstandings and to ensure conformance to contract plans and specifications and other requirements. Investigates failures and deficiencies and initiates corrective actions. Participates in final acceptance of completed work. Reviews final invoices submitted by contractor for correctness of entries. Acts as Project Manager and/or contracting officer's representative (COR or ACOR) on Architect/Engineer (A-E) design contracts and on Staatliche Bauamt projects (ABG3) as well.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    C-7A:
    E&T Levels I thru IV: not creditable for positions in this occupational series.

    E&T Level V: Applicants for positions in this series are required to be graduates from a Fachhochschule, a Berufsakademie, or a Technische Hochschule as an Engineer in the discipline specifically required for the position. Graduates must be fully recognized by German authorities to practice the engineering profession in Germany. Applicants from foreign countries must obtain an equivalent certification from pertinent German authorities that certifies recognition to practice the engineering profession in the area of specialization of the position.

    • Applicants must be in possession of a German driver's license class B.

    • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver's license.

    • Office automation skills are required.

    LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
    English AND German Language Proficiency level C1 required.

    • The incumbent of this position is occasionally required to perform TDY (Temporary Duty Travel).

    • Employee may perform the work at a location away from the regular worksite (e.g. at home) on a non-routine, ad-hoc basis. This includes work performed to complete a short-term special assignment or to accommodate special circumstances.
