    The DKMS Life Science Lab gGmbH in Dresden carries out the molecular typing of the HLA characteristics of all DKMS donors in the fight against blood cancer and is the world's largest HLA tissue typing laboratory.

    Our laboratory, which is accredited according to international guidelines, sequences more than one million samples provided by DKMS donors every year.

    Our success builds on continuous research, aiming at taking advantage of the latest innovations in molecular biology and next generation sequencing and adapting those to the field of immunogenetics.

    The Bioinformatics group at the DKMS Life Science Lab gGmbH is at the forefront of developing tools that utilize high throughput DNA sequencing technologies to combat blood cancer.

    Bioinformatiker:
    in / Bioinformatics Application Engineer (m/f/d)

    This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and robustness of our diagnostic applications, focusing on maintenance, user support, and continuous improvement of our software solutions.


    YOUR TASKS:
    Playing a crucial role in supporting the ongoing success of our MRD (minimal residual disease) diagnostic toolkit
    Developing, extending and maintaining software and data pipelines
    Focusing on bug fixing, performance optimization, and enhancing functionality
    Expanding test coverage and implementing robust testing frameworks to guarantee software reliability
    Providing user support by troubleshooting and resolving issues, ensuring our users have a seamless experience
    Comfortably navigating and developing Python code, with occasional forays into

    R


    OUR REQUIREMENTS:
    A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or equivalent experience
    Proficient Python coding skills and conversance with Linux and shell scripting
    Familiarity with R programming language or desire to learn this skillset
    Solid skills in Bioinformatics, understanding of the standards, data sources and tool chains used in NGS
    Comfortable with using and navigating version control systems, in particular git
    Proficient in collaborative software development practices (code reviews, branching strategies)
    Effective communication skills, with fluency in German AND English


    Additional Skills:
    Python packaging
    Familiarity with database architectures, both relational and non-relational
    Familiarity with scientific and parallel computing in Python using scipy and multiprocessing
    Conversance with CI/CD pipelines
