Job Description

Position's Objective & Summary:

This role will be a strategic leader for Intuitive's EMEA region and will report to the Global Director, Environmental Health and Safety. As the Environmental Health & Safety Sr Manager - EMEA, you will be responsible for working cross functionally with the global EH&S team as well as key stakeholders across the EMEA region, including senior leadership. You will lead EMEA EHS by creating, implementing, sustaining and improving environmental health and safety policies and procedures, which address compliance matters in all countries in which Intuitive operate.

Roles & Responabilities:

• Lead a regionally distributed team to define, develop and implement an EHS vision, strategy and associated roadmaps to support company goals in the EMEA region.
• Deploy and implement a robust EHS management system (compatible with ISO standards 14001 & 45001); create and implement metrics, KPI's and business processes; analyze performance data to identify risks, trends and opportunities; develop leading objectives.
• Manage exempt/professional employees responsible for developing and/or administering ongoing work processes to support our mission.
• Be responsible for the development, planning, and implementation of environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
• Create and maintain a robust safety culture through developing relationships with key stakeholders.
• Ensure risk assessment at local and regional levels have appropriate mitigation plans in place, prioritized and executed against.
• Ensure appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist.
• Assist in monitoring contractors and construction activities to ensure safe work practices are followed.
• Coordinate site emergency response activities and training.
• Ensure compliance with EHS laws and regulations as well as manage contacts with appropriate regulatory agencies.
• Develop and oversee EHS training programs.
• Establish and ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
• Effectively coordinate activities and programs with multiple departments and teams through site visits to achieve specific plans and goals.
• Support and contribute to site Business Continuity and Emergency Responses plans.
• Maintain positive and proactive communications with local EH&S authorities and any relevant stakeholder; represent and promote Intuitive Surgical in industry / EH&S associations.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or Environmental Sciences required.
• Candidates with a Master's degree specialized in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or Environmental Sciences are preferred.
• Professional EHS Certifications are highly desirable.
• Required 10 years of professional experience leading regional EHS function.
• Demonstrated experience in the application of EH&S management systems.
• Expert knowledge of Environmental, Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently to find solutions.
• Demonstrated leadership, influencing, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Fluency in English and German
• Ability to travel approximately 35%
