Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

We are looking for an ambitious and responsible Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Intuitive, you will be responsible for creating and enforcing a culture of safety within our organization. The EHS Specialist will identify and coordinate all relevant site activities around Initiative's EHS impact, including, but not limited to, relevant environmental aspects, significant safety risks, and objectives/ targets. The individual will work closely with the local Sr. EHS Engineer, process owners and business partners to ensure requirements are duly met by the site and, additionally, assessing, documenting, and addressing all relevant changes with impact to environment and safety for our employees and overall operations. The EHS Specialist supports internal and external audits at the site and will report relevant information periodically to the corporate relevant internal organizations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Encourage and promote the use of safer work equipment, materials, and supplies

Track the number of incidents and produce reports

Analyzes accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and Job Safety analyses

• Monitor exposure to certain hazardous chemicals
• Ergonomic evaluations support to identify risks and follow up of the recommendations for resolution
• Assists department supervisors in developing and promoting safety awareness and safety communication throughout Manufacturing Operations
• Ensures the Company is in compliance with German EHS regulations and institutions
• Support the administration of safety shoes, safety glasses, first aid, and other safety related programs
• Follow up safety audits, incident and accident investigations
• Communicates safety information
• Develops and updates all safety and emergency response procedures

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

• Minimum Experience: 2-5 years in Environmental Health & Safety management system experience, ideally in the medical device industry
• Influential personality with excellent interpersonal, strong written, and oral communication skills
• Strong knowledge in local, state, national and international laws and regulations related to protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees
• Proven track record of providing EHS training support to employees
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion within a broadly defined range of policies and practices. This includes analytical problem-solving.
• Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, including action oriented, focused urgency and driving for results
• Ability to be effective in complex projects with ambiguity and/or rapid change
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize and schedule work to meet business needs
• Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with others in team environment; effective interactions in cross department teams
• Computer literacy (PC, Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Outlook), experience with document management system is a plus
• Detail orientated, with emphasis on accuracy and completeness
• Proficient in German and English

Required Education and Training

• Minimum Education: College or University degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Environmental Sciences preferred
• Certificate as a specialist for occupational safety

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or other management systems, such as ISO 45001 and or ISO 9001
• Knowledge of Laser safety
• Knowledge of Radiation protection
• Knowledge of Waste management
