The industrial doctorate at Infineon: Pursue a doctoral degree at a university and gain professional experience simultaneously - an ideal start for your career. Advance your research with us and profit from our vast network of doctoral candidates and the expertise of a university. Mentorship is handled by both professors and dedicated Infineon employees. We are offering a doctoral thesis dealing with the investigation of artificial intelligence for chemical mechanical planarization (CMP). Based on selected CMP processes it should be analyzed how an AI based CMP process model can provide improved predictions for process results. The model leads to an improved process control and early detection of process deviation without the need of additional measurements. Detection of correlations between preprocess effects and chip-layout/-design data will minimize the amount of costly experiments and decrease the needed development time. The thesis will be written in cooperation with Technical University Chemnitz and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Harald Kuhn. The tasks within the thesis will consist of:
  • Analysis of the processes and the available data : clustering, correlations, sensitivity analysis etc.
  • Development and testing of a CMP process model on wafer level : combination of machine learning, physics models, simulation and process data
  • Development of algorithms for automatic evaluation of metrology data ( confocal microscopy, AFM, ...) on chip level
  • The learnings out of the thesis will be/lead to...
  • Deep understanding of the CMP process and the interdependencies between consumables and products
  • Insights in a global semiconductor company
  • Networking with other research enthusiasts and within the semiconductor industry
  • A doctoral student is a research enthusiast,
› interests are scientific research combined with the passion for Infineon's innovative products and applications.
› enjoys working in an industrial environment in combination with an Infineon partner university.
› appreciates open communication and the contribution of an international environment.
› is thus an excellent candidate for a further academic or industrial career after completion of their thesis.
