Data Centre IMAC EngineerLocation:
Frankfurt, Germany
Role Overview
Operate as part of a specialist data centre operations team
Support installation, relocation, modification, and removal of IT infrastructure
Deliver both operational and project-based activities
Ensure all tasks comply with internal standards, compliance rules, and security controls
Act as a liaison between technical teams, security teams, and customers
Provide on-site operational coordination and first-line incident support
Support recovery operations and business-as-usual activities
Contribute to infrastructure lifecycle management
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Deployment & Change Activities
Install, move, modify, and decommission server and network equipment
Prepare systems for deployment and service readiness
Validate configurations and perform testing
Confirm operational readiness post-installation
Update service management and operational systems
Maintain accurate technical documentation
Record all changes in IT service management platforms
Logistics, Storage & Media Handling
Manage shipping and receiving of IT equipment
Maintain staging and secure storage areas
Inspect, label, and tag assets
Track hardware movement and status changes
Maintain records for new and refurbished equipment
Manage secure media handling processes
Perform data wiping and sanitisation activities
Ensure compliance with internal data handling procedures
Asset Verification & Audits
Conduct physical asset audits
Verify inventory accuracy between physical and digital records
Identify and document discrepancies
Support corrective actions
Perform preventative maintenance checks
Identify early-stage infrastructure risks or faults
Secure Access & Visitor Management
Escort authorised visitors within secure environments
Enforce access control procedures
Ensure compliance with physical security protocols
Maintain visitor access documentation
Support secure area governance processes
Operational Support
Provide general data centre operational support
Support project delivery activities
Assist with service improvement initiatives
Support internal and client deliverables
Contribute to operational efficiency improvements
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience working in regulated IT environments
Experience in data centre IMAC operations
Experience with IT hardware deployment
Experience in structured cabling installation and testing
Experience in cable fault diagnosis
Knowledge of copper and fibre cabling standards
Understanding of high-availability infrastructure environments
Ability to work under pressure in critical environments
Rapid assimilation of technical requirements
Strong documentation and reporting skills
Proficiency with office productivity software
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and in teams
Strong prioritisation and multitasking capability
Experience using asset management systems
Experience using DCIM platforms
Experience using ITSM/service management systems
Understanding of change management processes
Understanding of service delivery frameworks
Availability for on-call and emergency support rotas
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
Formal IT training or technical education
Data centre technical certifications
Infrastructure support certifications
Networking certifications
Service management certifications
Full driving licence
