The Leibniz Institute DSMZ-German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH, Braunschweig offers the position for a Developer for a Plant Virus Database (m/f/d)The position is offered as full time (39.We are seeking a talented developer to join our interdisciplinary Data Integration team ().
You will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing a state-of-the-art plant virus database , leveraging existing datasets and integrating diverse biological data types.
This will happen in close collaboration with domain experts at the DSMZ and with a fast-growing group of other developers and scientists working in the database development within the DSMZ Digital Diversity endeavor.
Utilize expertise in web development, particularly in PHP or Python, to build robust and user-friendly database interfaces and functionalities (backend and frontend)Collaborate closely with the departments for Plant Viruses and Bioinformatics, IT & Databases to develop a comprehensive plant virus database platform
Integrate diverse datasets, including images of infection stages, transcriptomics, next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, and experimental protocols, into the database
Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations
Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.
Proficiency in web development using PHP or Python, knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
Strong understanding of biological data formats and database development (SQL), knowledge of document-based databases (e.g. Experience in object-oriented programming (Python, PHP, Java, C#, C++...), hands-on experience with Python is an asset
Effective communication and collaboration abilities in a multidisciplinary team environment
