Hauptaufgaben

Provides professional engineering design support in the field of electrical engineering that include design projects for construction, extension, modification and rehabilitation of electrical systems for US Army facilities. These consists of power and light distribution systems, transformer stations, stationary and mobile generating plants power for heating plants, intricate security power supply requirements, remote sites, computer systems and automatic data processing systems. Gathers technical data, measurement and related project support information and coordinates the preparation of pre-design and design of projects including detailed specifications, layouts, single line sketches, cost estimates, list of material and labor and location of existing utility lines and plants. Analysis and designs are based on a thorough and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices and the scientific and economic aspects of this specialized field. Develops studies and alternate solutions to the problems, preliminary and final designs, technical specifications and cost estimates. Meet with project proponents to assure that their needs will be attained. Analyze the various methods of solution from technical and economic standpoints and renders final decision on the most feasible solution. Evaluates manufacturers proposed products and devices and determines acceptability for use as standard throughout the command. Provides technical advice and recommendations as required during construction. Interprets design criteria and provides technical Inspection as needed by the Contracting Officer Representative

Investigates, analyzes and develops the technical requirements of project for design by private engineering firms, makes appropriate site investigations, project design.

E&T Levels I thru IV: not creditable for positions in this occupational series.

E&T Level V: Applicants for positions in this series are required to be graduates from a Fachhochschule, a Berufsakademie, or a Technische Hochschule as an Engineer in the discipline specifically required for the position. Graduates must be fully recognized by German authorities to practice the engineering profession in Germany. Applicants from foreign countries must obtain an equivalent certification from pertinent German authorities that certifies recognition to practice the engineering profession in the area of specialization of the position.

Applicants must be in the possession of a valid driver's license class B.

Office automation skills required.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:

English Language Proficiency Level B2 AND German Language Proficiency Level C1 required.

offer tests under the 'Common European Framework of Reference for Languages'
(CEFR).

This is a permanent full-time Position (38.5 hrs/week)

Designated duty station is at present Grafenwoehr. The future incumbent may be reassigned to another duty station within the same works council agency and commuting area (within the meaning of the legal ordinance on moving expense in its current version) of his/her present duty station.

The incumbent of this position is required to perform TDY (Temporary Duty Travel) occasionally.

Telework: Employee may perform the work at a location away from the regular worksite (e.g. at home) on a non-routine, ad-hoc basis. This includes work performed to complete a short-term special assignment or to accommodate special circumstances.

NOTE FOR EXTERNAL APPLICANTS:

Police Good Conduct Certificate (Polizeiliches Fuehrungszeugnis). On initial appointment, or re-appointment after a break in service, candidates who have been selected for a position must present a police good-conduct certificate prior to appointment to the position. The applicant must obtain the certificate from the local resident registration office. The cost for the certificate isn't reimbursable. Non-US citizen family members, except German citizens are exempt from this requirement.
ATTENTION: Upon appointment with the US Forces it is required to present two valid Picture IDs to get access to the Computer Systems. Recognized documents are only: "Personalausweis" (Personal ID), "Reisepass" (Personal Travel ID) and the EU Driver's License (plastic card format). We recommend to assure at the time of application that at least two of these documents are available or requested.

Foreign National Screening (Sicherheitsueberpruefung): In accordance with USAREUR Regulation 604-1, within 3 days after appointment, a background check will be initiated to determine suitability for continued employment with the U. S. Forces in Germany. If results are unacceptable, employment will be terminated during the probationary period, or any time thereafter if the background checks reveal that the employee constitutes a security risk.
