Since 9/11, 2001 the Cinema for Peace initiative has been aiming to influence through films the perception and resolution of global social, political, and humanitarian challenges of our time - and especially to oppose war and terror. In recent years Cinema for Peace has supported humanitarian causes with the likes of Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, and public figures such as the Dalai Lama, Muhammad Ali, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev, and the former Honorary Patron Nelson Mandela.

Tasks of the volunteer could include any of the following areas:

    ● Fundraising: Support Cinema for Peace fundraising initiatives through funding organizations, high-level fundraiser events, auctions, membership programs, or artists and gallery relations.

    ● Communications: Support the Cinema for Peace Communications Strategy by drafting, posting, and reporting on social media posts across social media platforms, as well as by supporting public relations management.

    ● Campaigns: Support the conception and execution of Cinema for Peace Campaigns for human rights, democracy, and peace in the world using the medium of film.

    ● Film Selection: Support the selection and curation of films for Cinema for Peace screenings, film festivals, and for the Cinema for Peace awards.

    ● Artists and gallery relations: Liaise with artists, galleries, and art collectors to acquire donations of artworks and experiences for fundraising and public relations purposes.

    ● Event Management: Organize high-level advocacy events across the globe, specifically in Berlin, New York, and Los Angeles.

    ● Special Projects: Support the management of Cinema for Peace special projects.

    ● Team Support: Assist in general administration, management of mailing and guest lists, desk research, news and conflict monitoring, and any other task needed from the team.

    The ideal candidate would have:

    ● Educational qualifications in Film, Human Rights, International Relations, International Law, Project Management, or related fields.

    ● A passion and interest for topics related to film, art, international conflicts, human rights, climate change, and other socio-political and humanitarian issues.

    ● Prior basic experience working in an international organization, non-governmental organization, civil society organization, or film-related organization.

    ● Excellent written and spoken fluency in English is required. Other languages, particularly German, is an advantage.

    ● Proactive, ability to think outside the box, willing to go the extra mile, and a problem-solving attitude.

    ● Lives in Berlin.

    This volunteer position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 9:00 to 18:00.

The remuneration for this position is 520 euros + BVG ticket reimbursement.
