Our client is a leading e-commerce platform committed to providing seamless shopping experiences for customers around the globe. We are seeking a talented and experienced Head of Data Engineering to lead the data engineering team and drive the data infrastructure initiatives.

Position Overview:

As the Head of Data Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support our data-driven initiatives in the e-commerce industry. You will lead a team of skilled data engineers to develop robust, reliable, and efficient data solutions that enable us to analyze customer behavior, personalize shopping experiences, and optimize business operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance, support, and expertise to drive innovation and excellence in data engineering initiatives focused on e-commerce analytics.
2. Collaborate closely with marketing, sales, and product teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions that support customer segmentation, recommendation systems, and inventory management.
3. Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, transform, and store large volumes of transactional data, user interactions, and product information from various sources.
4. Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance to ensure data integrity, privacy, and regulatory compliance in the e-commerce industry.
5. Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to enhance performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of data infrastructure, with a focus on real-time data processing and analytics to support dynamic pricing and inventory optimization.
6. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data engineering technologies and tools, and evaluate their potential applications to improve our data architecture and workflows for e-commerce analytics.
7. Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to manage infrastructure resources, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot issues as needed in an e-commerce environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a leadership role within a data engineering or software development team, with a track record of successfully leading and delivering complex data infrastructure projects.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, as well as experience with data processing frameworks and tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, and Airflow.
• Deep understanding of data modeling, database design, and SQL, with experience in building and optimizing relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, and proficiency in cloud-based data services such as S3, Redshift, BigQuery, and Dataflow.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with marketing, sales, and product teams, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail.
