For our location in Hamburg, we are now looking for a Young Professional at our Prompt Trading & Operations desk.

As a Prompt Trading Operator you are working in a multi-national and dynamic environment with a focus on ensuring the seamless operations of our trading activities in the short term markets of gas and power. You are enabling our internal and external customers to achieve our joint goals and further expand our business. You are responsible for the physical nominations of our transactions with the market and grid operators, providing access to capacity auctions as well as managing the market access to the spot auctions in our Central European markets. You work on the interface of several internal and external stakeholders – therefore, managing occasional projects of various sizes is a natural part of your job.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

• Managing our market access to the Continental European spot exchanges (power)
• Providing access to the capacity platforms in gas and power
• Scheduling the physical positions of Vattenfall and its customers to the market, grid and storage operators
• Continuously improve tools and processes to increase speed and efficiency of our operation
• Facilitate cooperation with internal and external stakeholders to achieve our joint targets and further expand our business
• Continuously improve processes and system landscape to maintain operational excellence and keep control of associated risks
• Influence and implement regulatory changes and keep track of market developments

Qualifikationen

Your profile:

• Strong academic background with a relevant degree in preferably business, economics, engineering or other relevant subject
• Ideally 1+ years of professional experience in a relevant environment (energy utilities, trading houses)
• Entrepreneurial mindset in combination with strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to balance your competitive mindset with an empathetic character to meet the needs of your environment
• Result oriented, independent working methodology with high reliability and readiness to take on responsibility
• Willingness to work in a dynamic environment that never stands still (includes working on weekends about once a month)
• Relevant coding skills (Python/VBA) are a plus, but not a requirement

Business Area (BA) Markets' role in Vattenfall is to maximize the value of the overall portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging and sourcing for Vattenfall's sales and generation volumes. Within Markets the Business Unit (BU) Trading is the energy trading hub of the Vattenfall Group. BU Trading is responsible for all trading activities around Vattenfall ́s asset and customer flows to maximize value creation and improve sourcing costs. It provides market access services for the Vattenfall Group - which means managing all hedging flows, from generation assets or customers, by Market Access. Next to handling our flow business, BU Trading also has a proprietary mandate.
