    THE POSITION

Do you have a background within immuno-oncology and translational medicine and have an interest in working with exciting novel oncology assets? If so, then join us We are building a strong oncology portfolio of novel tumor targeted and immuno-oncology concepts and, to develop these assets, we want you to help us shape new translational approaches and technologies.
    You will have the exciting opportunity to lead our immuno-oncology clinical translational team, with the aim to create value through innovation with implementation of a strategic vision that enables indication selection, early indication of biological activity and patient stratification/selection in Immuno-Oncology.

    The Translational Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology Oncology function exists to ensure effective and strategic translational pre-clinical and clinical approaches and data generation for Oncology assets. Closely interacting with Discovery, Oncology Medicine, Clinical Development and other TMCP functions, the Translational oncology team is the single point of accountability for delivery of robust, scientifically driven translational approaches to all oncology project teams, by providing biomarker research insights and early to late clinical development translational strategy, data, and interpretation.

    We are seeking an Associate Head/Director of Oncology Translational Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology (TMCP) to develop clinical immuno-oncology biomarker strategies and ensuring delivery within our internal project portfolio teams.

    Tasks & responsibilities
    • As Associate Head, you lead a translational team and have overall strategic responsibility for translational approaches and deliverables in clinical development for assets within the immuno-oncology portfolio, in close collaboration with the head and other associate heads/directors of TMCP oncology.
    • You are a key decision maker in internal committees regarding your area of responsibility; you contribute to and co-ordinate translational medicine deliverables to (pre-) clinical development, based on the best available science and technologies.
    • You review and approve translational medicine and biomarker strategies and their implementation in Clinical Trial Protocols, Trial Reports, scientific publications, and presentations as delegated by the TMCP head of oncology.
    • You lead your teams' collaboration with internal TMCP functions, oncology Discovery and Medicine, Clinical Operation, and external stakeholders to ensure translational insights are appropriately reflected across immune-oncology clinical development strategies and implementation.
    • You coach and oversee your team members as key elements of your responsibility. By leading and managing employees belonging to your team.


    Requirements
    • We expect a strong team player, who can successfully act in a global and remote context; good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, internally and externally, are a pre-requisite.
    • Doctoral degree (MD etc.) in Medicine, with extensive experience in immuno-oncology, and drug development within the industry or academia
    • In-depth knowledge of translational medicine/science, immunology, IO agents and their mechanism of action, immune drivers of resistant mechanism of IO agents, Biomarkers, combination approaches
    • Highly developed problem solving, and deliverable-oriented mind set with collaborative working skills and ability to motivate and develop others
    • Ability to act as an oncology translational medicine/science ambassador to enhance the external image and reputation of Boehringer Ingelheim
