    The School of Medicine and Health Sciences (Department of MedicalPhysics and Acoustics) is seeking applications for a

    Professorship in Medical Physics with focus on Technical and Experimental Audiology, salary scale W3, (m/f/x)

    commencing as soon as possible .

    Medical Physics with a focus on technical and experimental audiologyis a long-standing research area at the University of Oldenburg, for examplewithin the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4all and the Collaborative ResearchCentre Hearing Acoustics. The aim of the professorship to be filled is toestablish audiology as an exact science by means of basic research in thenatural and engineering sciences in the field of hearing.

    The successful candidate is expected to take a leading role in theongoing and future development of theresearch focus on hearing research at the University of Oldenburg. An activecontribution to the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4all, the CollaborativeResearch Centre Hearing Acoustics and other structured programmes within the Excellence Centre for Hearing Research is expected. In addition, the strategic cooperation between the University of Oldenburg and Hörzentrum Oldenburg gGmbH is to befurther strengthened. A close cooperation within the framework of the existingresearch areas and interdisciplinary research networks as well as with theRijksuniversiteit Groningen (NL) is expected.

    We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding research recordin at least two of the following areas of experimental and technical audiology:

  • Methods of experimentalaudiology and hearing system technology
  • AI-driven and computational audiology
  • Auditory perception, modelingand rehabilitation
  • Modeling of speech and speech perception
  • Auditory neurotechnology
  • The expertise ofthe candidate needs to be compatible with the research topics of the Cluster ofExcellence Hearing4all and related research topics of the School of Medicineand Health Sciences.

    The followingis required:

  • international publications inthe above-mentioned areas of experimental and technical audiology
  • successful acquisition,management and execution of coordinated third-party funded projects, as well as
  • university teaching experience inthe field of natural sciences or engineering sciences
  • Desirable are:

  • several years of experience inleading interdisciplinary research groups
  • experience in strategicplanning, acquisition and execution of national and international researchprojects, as well as
  • competences in technology transfer
  • In addition, the successful candidate is expected to contribute tothe core lecture programme of the Department of Medical Physics and Acousticswith an emphasis on physics, physics-technology-medicine (PTM), engineeringphysics and acoustics. Links to medicine and neuroscience are desirable.Courses are to be offered in German and English, whereby the required languageskills are to be acquired within a reasonable period of time.

    Prerequisites for employment are specified in section 25 of theLower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG).
