Our client is seeking a highly skilled Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer to support an ongoing development project involving specialised industrial machinery.
This role offers full-cycle design responsibility—from initial concept and requirements definition through to prototyping, testing, and production documentation. It's ideal for an engineer with strong CAD capabilities and a solid background in designing complex mechanical systems.Role:

Hybrid (onsite near Hamburg+ remote flexibility)
Key Responsibilities
Define mechanical design specifications aligned with project goals and performance criteria
Develop functional and manufacturable designs for machinery components and assemblies
Lead prototyping efforts, conduct testing, and iterate based on performance feedback
Create detailed 3D CAD models and production-ready drawings in compliance with industry standards
Continuously improve existing machinery designs by integrating cost-effective components
Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure design feasibility and quality
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within specialised machinery, automation, or industrial equipment
Proficiency in one or more CAD platforms: SolidWorks, Inventor, Siemens NX, CATIA, or Creo
Ideally fluent in German and English
