    Klang is a game studio exploring the future of humanity through various forms of media. We aspire to bring people together through engaging media experiences and by building strong communities.

    It's a super exciting project, but in order for us to achieve a goal like this we are going to need a lot of help You will be an integral part of our development process, working closely with our talented Engineers and QA team members.

    As a QA Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of "SEED by developing cutting-edge testing tools, automating testing processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain the highest quality standards throughout the game development lifecycle.

    Create, update and maintain testing tools to streamline the QA process, reduce manual efforts, and increase the efficiency of the testing team.

    Develop and maintain automation scripts for testing various aspects of the game, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.

    Work closely with game developers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand the game's functionality, design test cases, and ensure that the game meets quality standards.

    Collaborate with the QA team to develop test strategies, test plans, and test cases to ensure the game's functionality and performance are thoroughly tested.

    Conduct performance testing to assess the game's scalability and identify potential bottlenecks.
    Participate in the development of QA processes, methodologies, and best practices.
    Provide valuable feedback to the development team to enhance gameplay, user experience, and overall quality.
    Proficiency in C#
    Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
    Bonus
    Experience with Jira, Confluence, Unity3D Engine, C# programming
    Previous work on multiplayer networked games, ideally persistent ones.

    Culture Add:
    A 30-minute interview with María Rey (Studio Operations Director) and/or Cathy Liu (Development Director).

    This is to assess how you would fit into the team as well as for you to decide if you feel there is a team fit from your side.


    Onboarding and Relationship Building:
    Complete the initial onboarding process, including an introduction to Klang's culture, values, and policies. Begin forming connections with members of the QA team and other team members.

    Quality Assurance Excellence:

    Familiarize yourself with the existing quality assurance processes and standards at Klang, and establish rapport with the QA team.

    Identify initial areas where manual testing efforts can be streamlined and start discussions with the team on potential improvements.

    Review the current testing documentation and develop a test case inventory for key game features.

    Bug Detection and Resolution:

    Report and track at least defects found, and begin collaborating with the development team to understand the resolution process.

    Attend team meetings and understand the current communication and documentation practices in place.

    Attend Sprint Demos and other Scrum rituals to understand the game's progress and actively participate by providing feedback on initial gameplay and user experience.

    Initiate communication with team members across different geographical locations, establishing initial connections and understanding their roles and contributions.
    Begin using test management and bug-tracking software effectively in daily tasks.

    Onboarding and Relationship Building:
    Deepen your understanding of Klang's culture and how it aligns with the studio's mission and vision. Foster stronger working relationships with QA team members through active collaboration on testing tasks.

    Quality Assurance Excellence:
    Expand the test case inventory to cover a broader range of game features and conduct more comprehensive testing.
    Contribute significantly to the test documentation and enhance communication within the team.
    Provide valuable feedback during Sprint Demos and deepen your understanding of the game's development cycle and vision.

    Cross-Location Collaboration:
    Collaborate more effectively with cross-location team members and actively engage in project discussions that span multiple locations.

    Onboarding and Relationship Building:
    Actively participate in team meetings and discussions, contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment. Expand your network within the studio, connecting with developers, Product Owners, and other team members.

    Quality Assurance Excellence:
    Propose and implement significant improvements to the QA processes, resulting in higher quality standards.
    Streamline the QA process across various areas, resulting in faster development cycles and a more efficient team.
    Achieve thorough testing coverage for all game features, ensuring no critical issues go unnoticed.
    Conduct in-depth performance testing, identify and address performance bottlenecks, and optimize game scalability.

    Collaboration and Documentation:
    Play a vital role in maintaining clear and comprehensive test documentation and facilitating communication among team members.
    Actively participate in Sprint Demos, offer valuable feedback, and demonstrate a deep understanding of the game's vision.
    Successfully collaborate with team members across different locations and ensure seamless communication in a globally distributed team.

    Proficiency with Tools:

    Master the use of test management and bug-tracking software, contributing to efficient testing and issue tracking, and staying updated with emerging tools and technologies.


    Onboarding and Relationship Building:
    Develop mentorship skills to support the onboarding of future hires, enhancing team cohesion.

    Quality Assurance Excellence:

    Continuously refine and enhance quality assurance processes, focusing on achieving the highest levels of quality and integrity in the game.

    Lead initiatives to streamline the QA process, implement automation where possible, and contribute to even faster game development cycles.

    Ensure that comprehensive testing continues as a core practice and that testing coverage remains thorough for all game features and components.


    Bug Detection and Resolution:

    Take a proactive role in identifying, reporting, and efficiently resolving at least thirty defects, enhancing the overall player experience and game stability.

    Continuously monitor and optimize the game's performance, scaling, and stability based on data from performance tests and real-world usage.


    Quarterly OKRs Achievement:

    Collaborate with the QA Director and cross-functional teams to consistently achieve quarterly OKRs related to quality, testing processes, and performance targets.


    Feedback and Collaboration:

    Act as a valuable source of feedback to the development team, fostering collaborative relationships and aligning development efforts with the game's vision.


    Cross-Location Collaboration:

    Take a leadership role in cross-location team collaboration, facilitating open and effective communication and contributing to project discussions that span different regions.
