Duties:


  • Screen patients using psychodiagnosis evaluations to address complex diagnostic issues.
  • Formulate clinical information to establish mental health diagnosis'.
  • Perform client centered therapy to make recommendations for appropriate referrals.
  • Make adjustments to treatment plans or course of therapy as needed.
  • Implement programs to prevent/detect/treat mental health disorders.
  • Serve as the behavioral health consultant to command regarding fitness for duty.
  • Provide briefings on mental health related issues.
  • Provide training to mental health treatment team.
  • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert for mental health care in the clinic.
  • Ensure treatment records meet accreditation standards as the defined by the military treatment facility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction
  • This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete and maintain credentialing and privileging requirements.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Shifts may be rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
  • A doctor of philosophy (PhD) or a doctor of psychology (PsyD) degree in clinical, counseling, or combined professionalscientific psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
  • An APAaccredited predoctoral internship in professional psychology (This 1year internship is part of an APAaccredited doctoral program. The Air Force accepts this internship from any APAaccredited site including designated AF sites).

Basic Requirement for Psychologist:


Education:

A doctoral degree in Psychology that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice psychology in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting psychological evaluations to screen adult patients for services; developing behavioral health treatment plans to make appropriate referrals: AND providing psychological counseling services to patients.

  • This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS12 or above).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
  • If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI and DoDM
  • If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI and DoDM
  • Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a spaceavailable and reimbursable basis only.
  • Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions.
