Master student in the field of SAF Supply Chain Modelling (d/f/m), title of thesis "Modelling of Scenarios for the Supply of future Methanol-fuelled Aircrafts in a Competitive Methanol Market":

The mission:Within the master thesis, models for the analysis of future scenarios of an eFuel market as fuel for SAF-powered, new commercial aircraft are to be developed. In particular, the development of eFuel demand in a competitive market with different eFuel-fuelled transport systems (aviation, shipping, automotive), the development of the eFuel supply chain and the infrastructure in a period up to 2050 should be possible. The System Dynamics Methodology (SD) for modeling, simulation and analysis of socio-economic systems is proposed to solve the problem.

Your location:

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Your tasks and responsibilities:

Documentation of the state of the art in Sustainable Air Fuel (SAF) production and potential use in the air transport sector and other industries
Modelling of the SAFfuelled air transport system, of the fuel producers, fuel consumers, other stakeholders and the fuel market situation for multiple future scenarios
Analysis of possible market scenarios by the use of simulation, assessment and derivation of recommendations

Desired skills and qualifications:

Enrolled fulltime student in the area of Industrial Engineering, Economics or an equivalent field of study
First practical experience in the field of Simulation (System Dynamics, DES) is desirable
Fluent in German and English
Basic knowledge in market theory, price theory and economic models
Knowledge in supply chain management fundamentals
