Head of Regulatory Policy - Berlin, Deutschland - Meta

We are looking for a senior Public Policy expert who can combine a passion for innovative products and services such as virtual / augmented reality and social media with a deep knowledge of the political and regulatory environment, dynamics and stakeholders in Germany.

Successful applicants will become part of a thriving team that is dealing with some of the most interesting public policy and regulatory issues of our times including competition and content regulation, artificial intelligence, privacy/data protection, sustainability, E-Commerce, media regulation and the metaverse, virtual & augmented reality.

Contract (STE) to May 2025

Head of Regulatory Policy (STE) Responsibilities:

Development and execution of regulatory strategies to achieve company goals in public policy
Monitor legislation and especially regulatory developments affecting Meta in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and advise the company with respect to regulatory challenges
Represent Meta in meetings with senior government officials and elected members of parliament, media and to the general public
Develop public policy positions together with other teams at Meta
Help build coalitions with other organizations such as trades, associations and companies to advance policy goals of Meta
Communicate Meta's positions in public presentations
Advise Meta teams on public policy matters to guide development of products, services and policies especially with regard to content regulation

Minimum Qualifications:

Significant experience working on relevant policy and regulatory issues
Full fluency in German and superb written and spoken English required
Familiarity with working with politicians and government officials including those at the most senior levels and ability to grasp complex technical and policy issues
A passionate belief in the social and economic benefits of the Internet and Meta and its products in particular
An ability to work with crossfunctional teams from a wide range of disciplines
Excellent communication skills and significant experience in speaking publicly
A flexible mindset that thrives in a fastmoving environment
A track record of writing and delivering position papers, articles, speeches, and presentations on relevant topics
An ability to translate between the specialist languages of technology and politics

Preferred Qualifications:

Detailed knowledge of the Metaverse, virtual and augmented reality as well as Artificial Intelligence are a further advantage
Experience in content and competition regulation
A Master degree in Political Science, Law or related field
