The Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID) in Trier (Germany) is an internationally renowned research support organization in psychology and a member of the prestigious Leibniz Association.
Junior professorship (W1-equivalent) (f/m/d):
Science Acceptance with research focus (with tenure-track to W2 LBesG-equivalent)
The professorship will be filled in a joint appointment procedure between ZPID and the Trier University, based on - 50 Abs.
Preferred start date is July 1, 2024
Duties and functions:
- Conducting quantitative research on "Science Acceptance" including but not limited to the following topics:
- Research literacy: Evidence-based thinking and epistemic beliefs within a scientific context or among lay people.
- Trust in science and science rejection.
- Acceptance and distribution of misinformation.
- The impact of ideologies and (nonnormative) beliefs (e.g., conspiracy beliefs) on acceptance of rational and scientific reasoning.
- In presence teaching in the psychology B.Sc. or M.Sc. program with a reduced teaching load compared to regular junior professorships.
- Interdisciplinary focus (by means of cooperations and abilities to explore methodological approaches in other fields).
Your profile:
- A PhD and a research profile related to science acceptance.
- International publications.
- Adherence to the principles of open science.
- Distinct communication, presentation, and team leadership skills.
- Proactive, resultsoriented, and independent working style.
- Willingness to move to the region of Trier (Germany).

- Contingent to successful evaluations (usually after 3 and 5 years) a tenured professorship (W2 equivalent) will be offered.
