Duties:


  • Performs a wide range of complex physical therapy duties requiring an advanced practical knowledge of physical therapy, evidencebased medicine and data collection.
  • Develops and implements complex, goaloriented treatment plans for patients presenting with a multiplicity of dysfunction and impairments.
  • Designs treatment plans to meet patient/clinical objectives to maximize restoration of physical and adaptive roles and functions.
  • Designs, fabricates, or recommends adaptive equipment and/or orthotic devices to improve function.
  • Incorporates evaluation, treatment methods, and research trends and patterns to develop procedures, criteria, and policies to meet the emerging needs of the complex patient population.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction
  • This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so and periodic reverification check of multiple agency records.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete and maintain credentialing and privileging requirements.
  • Incumbent may be required to work overtime to include out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis. The work may require the incumbent to work evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to a hospital.
  • This position requires the completion of a preemployment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
  • Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • The incumbent must possess and maintain a current license to practice in a State or Territory of the United States or the District of Columbia.

Degree: A graduate (or higher level) degree that included a physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, and completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.


Licensure:

Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT)


Exemption:

You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0633 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before

  • In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating physical therapy patients and implementing physical therapy plan of care.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
