The Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin is a joint medical faculty, which serves both Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt Universität zu Berlin.

The Institute of Virology at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Director: Prof. Drosten) has around 90 employees, 10 independent working groups and two consulting laboratories (coronaviruses and hantaviruses). Dr. Jones Kelly's group focuses on computational approaches to diagnostics and improved understanding of viral evolution. We are looking for a data technician to join our team to help support all aspects of our work. We offer an exciting, meaningful position in an open-minded and international team. Die Stelle im Überblick

Coordination and execution of a third party funded scientific project
Planning, execution and supervision of genetic engineering work BSL1 to BSL3 in the following areas:
Complex laboratory experiments (cell culture techniques including permanent cell lines, primary cells, organoid cultures)
Stem cell technologies (e.g. iPSC-based production of organoids)
Animal experiments (mouse, hamster) under BSL2 conditions
Diverse cloning techniques for phenotyping of viruses (reverse genetics)
General protein biochemical analyses, microscopy (confocal, cLSM, live cell imaging)
Independent analysis and interpretation of data sets including statistics
Writing of publications and presentation of data at (inter)national conferences
Writing/ preparation of animal experimentation proposals, ethics proposals and research reports
Supervision of junior scientists and technical assistants
Scientific staff is given sufficient time to carry out their own scientific work in accordance with their employment relationship

Danach suchen wir

Completed university studies in the field of natural sciences incl. doctorate/PhD
Proof of excellent scientific activities through publications in the field of infection biology/ virology/ immunology
Profound knowledge in cell culture techniques
Relevant experience in protein biochemical and molecular biological working techniques (protein and nucleic acid detection methods)
Routine work under BSL2 and optimally also BSL3 conditions
Excellent communication skills, commitment and distinct ability to work in a team
Independent, structured and careful way of working
Proficient English language skills (written and spoken)
PC skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and statistics
Advantageous are FELASA B or equivalent / Proof of successfully acquired third-party funding and additional language skills in German/ Spanish/ French
