Specific Duties

Background/Motivation:

You want to find out how quantum spins are best suitable for boosting future quantum technology? If you are confidently understand finite size quantum systems and their mathematical description, and ideally have a background in topological physics and first numerical or analytical experience in describing quantum spin systems, this project is matching your skills.

The position is endowed with generous funds for travel and for open-source publications.

General information:
The Posske Lab conducts research about topological condensed matter physics. We are looking for novel mechanisms for topological protection and improvements for existing mechanisms, see our publications.

The project is embedded in the thriving Cluster of Excellence CUI ('cluster for ultrafast imaging') at the 'German University of Excellence' Universität Hamburg, encompassing world-renowned experimental groups in atomic magnetism, anyons, Majorana modes, topological matter, and dynamically manipulated quantum systems, which give plentiful possibilities for high-quality experiment-theory collaborations.

The 'campus Bahrenfeld', located at the eastern center of Hamburg, is a large-scale joint campus of the Universität Hamburg, the Max Planck research center for the structure and dynamics of matter, and the German Electron Synchroton DESY.

The lab has, among others, active collaborations with the Centre for Quantum Technologies and Applications (CQTA) Zeuthen, the Institute for Nanostructure and Solid State Physics Hamburg, the University of Kyoto, the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Lund University, Johns Hopkins University, Boston College, and exchange as well as participation at (international) conferences during the employment period is intended.
