Expertise in datadriven and computational clinical research and epidemiology
An outstanding publication record in relevant peerreviewed journals
Extensive experience conducting large population cohort studies and clinical epidemiological studies in infectious disease research
A proven track record of securing research grants from German and international funding agencies
Active involvement in developing and writing evidencebased guidelines and recommendations for national and international organizations
Expertise in dynamic modeling, machine learning, and other innovative epidemiological research techniques
Proven teaching skills and experience in instructing life science and medical students
Strong leadership qualities and a teamoriented, familyfriendly and cooperative leadership style
Fluent in both English and German, with excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Key responsibilities of the department head:

Serve as the Speaker of Research Focus Digital and Global Health at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI)
Lead the PhD programme in Epidemiology based in Braunschweig and Hannover
Coordinate the German National Cohort Study (NAKO) at the Clinical Research Center (CRC) in Hannover

Prerequisites for the appointment:

Hold a formal qualification in epidemiology, such as an MSc and/or PhD
Possess a medical degree, a degree in life sciences or a degree in computational sciences
Have achieved the Venia legendi (Habilitation) or demonstrated equivalent academic achievements
